Minister of Foreign Affairs Saleumxay Kommasith on Jun 22 received courtesy calls from foreign ambassadors and representatives of international organization to Laos on the occasion of his appointment to the ministerial post.

The visiting guests included Ambassador Ri Sang Gun of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, Ambassador Karel Hartogh of Holland, Ambassador Yun Kang-hyeon of the Republic of Korea, and FAO Representative Stephen Anthony Rudgard.

The visiting ambassadors congratulated the minister on his appointment to the post of Foreign Minister and wished him great success in his noble tasks.

They also acknowledged noticeable achievements in national construction and development recorded over the past years by the government and people of the Lao PDR.

They assured the minister that they would provide cooperation to the Lao government and support its rotary chairmanship of ASEAN2016.

The minister noted that the support and assistance by the guests’ respective countries and organizations had constituted significant contributions to the socio-economic development in the Lao PDR thus helping it to graduate from the list of least developed countries by 2020.

He expressed his hope that the ambassadors and representatives would actively contribute to enhancing the relations and cooperation between the Lao PDR and their respective countries and organizations in the future and wished the visiting ambassadors success in fulfilling their diplomatic missions.
