Minister of Foreign Affairs Saleumsay Kommasith on July 3 received a courtesy call from the new Cambodian Ambassador to Laos, Cheng Manith as the latter has recently been appointed to the diplomatic post in Laos.
At the talks held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Vientiane, Mr Kommasith congratulated and praised Mr Cheng Manith on his new appointment as the new Cambodian ambassador to Laos as a great contribution to enhancing the friendly relations and cooperation between the Lao PDR and Cambodia.
In reply, Cheng Manith expressed his gratitude to the Minister of Foreign Affairs for the warm welcome and to other Party and government leaders, as well as the Lao people, for the cooperation and assistance that he is sure will be extended to him.
During the talks, both parties expressed appreciation on the opening of the international border checkpoint connecting Champasak in Laos with Cambodia’s Stung Treng early this year. The opening of the newly upgraded checkpoint is facilitating people-to-people exchanges between the two countries, especially between Champasak in Laos and Stung Treng in Cambodia.
