On 24 June 2022, H.E. Pratito Soeharyo, Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to the Lao PDR, hosted a Reception on the Occasion of 65th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Diplomatic Relations between The Republic of Indonesia and Lao PDR at Lao Plaza Hotel, Vientiane. The Reception was attended by H.E Saleumxay KOMMASITH, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Lao PDR as Guest of Honor and also distinguished Ministers from the different Lao Ministries.
At the said occasion, Ambassador Pratito Soeharyo delivered remarks highlighting the good bilateral relations between Indonesia and Lao PDR, throughout the past 65 years.
Ambassador Pratito conveys its appreciation to the government of the Lao PDR for maintaining the good relations of our two countries. He further states that the Indonesian and Lao government and people have much to celebrate and should be proud of the efforts, achievements, long-time friendship and brotherhood over the past years as well as the years to come.
Although The COVID-19 pandemic has in many ways impacted on efforts to strengthen relations in cooperation areas, both countries always supported each other in international forums, in particular the ASEAN frameworks.
Furthermore, both countries are still in the process of exploring and encouraging bilateral trade and investment engagements, more government-to-government and people-to-people interactions, and strengthening cooperation on the bilateral, regional and multilateral levels.
Taken into consideration that the Lao PDR has successfully proven itself as a connectivity hub in the region, Ambassador Pratito believes that there will be investment opportunities in various sectors in Lao PDR and many potential cooperation in education and social cultural areas, for further exploration by both countries to achieve.
H.E Saleumxay KOMMASITH, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs also delivered remarks underlining the strong bilateral relations as well as the economic and education cooperation, reinforcing the importance of people-to-people connections and the role of respective communities as the highlight of relations between Lao PDR and Indonesia.
Taking this opportunity, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs expressed sincere thanks to the Indonesian Government for complementary to give peaceful gong to the Lao PDR which was the first gong given by Indonesian Government to Southeast Asian nations and the aforesaid gong was displayed in front of the Patuxay monument and expressed heartfelt gratitude and sincere thanks to the Government and people of Indonesia for their kind supports and assistance accorded to the Lao PDR.
During the toast, both Deputy Prime Minister KOMMASITH and Ambassador Pratito express wishes of good health and success of H.E. President Thongloun Sisoulith and H.E. President Joko Widodo, and to the people of both countries, as well as the further development of Indonesia and the Lao PDR’s relationship.
The reception of the 65th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations between Indonesia and Lao PDR was attended by over 200 persons from ministers, senior officials from various agencies, the diplomatic corps, and representatives from the private sector, and the media.
