The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lao PDR expresses its concerns over the unilateral declaration of Jerusalem as the Capital of Israel by the President of the United State of America. The Lao PDR reaffirms its long-standing solidarity and unwavering support to the Palestinian people in their legitimate quest for dignity, justice and their inalienable right to self-determination in their independent State of Palestine. The Lao PDR believes that consensus among the international community is the only solution in order to create an environment conducive to the pursuit of peace in the region as well as for salvaging the prospects of achieving a Two-State solution as enshrined in the related United Nations Security Council resolutions and other relevant United Nations resolutions.
Statement of the Spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Lao PDR
The Lao PDR shares concern expressed by the international community over the recent underground nuclear test which was conducted on January 6, 2016 by the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea. The test was contrary to the relevant UNSC Resolutions. As a result, it may also increase further tension in the Korean Peninsula. The Lao DPR reaffirms its support to peace, stability and denuclearization of the Korean peninsula and dispute settlement through peaceful and constructive dialogue and calls upon all parties concerned to exert common efforts to maintain peace and stability and create an environment conducive to the resumption to Six-Party Talks to pave the way for maintaining peace and security in the region and the world at large.
