Statement of the Spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Lao PDR
The Lao PDR shares concern expressed by the international community over the recent underground nuclear test which was conducted on January 6, 2016 by the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea. The test was contrary to the relevant UNSC Resolutions. As a result, it may also increase further tension in the Korean Peninsula. The Lao DPR reaffirms its support to peace, stability and denuclearization of the Korean peninsula and dispute settlement through peaceful and constructive dialogue and calls upon all parties concerned to exert common efforts to maintain peace and stability and create an environment conducive to the resumption to Six-Party Talks to pave the way for maintaining peace and security in the region and the world at large.
