H.E Mr. Thongphan Savanphet, Vice Foreign Minister and Laos’ ASEAN SOM Leader, led the Lao Delegation to attend the ASEAN Senior Officials’ Meeting, took place in Manila on August 3 as a sideline event of the 50^th ASEAN Ministerial Meeting, hosted by the Philippines.

At the meeting, representatives of ASEAN member states discussed continued efforts to strengthen the ASEAN Community and the implementation of the ASEAN Political-Security Community Blueprint 2025.

They also discussed the promotion of the ASEAN’s external relations and cooperation and the role of ASEAN Centrality as well as preparations for the 50^th ASEAN Ministerial Meeting, the ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting with Dialogue Partners, the 18^th ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting Plus Three, the 7^th East Asia Summit Foreign Ministers’ Meeting, the 24^th ASEAN Regional Forum and other related meetings.

On the same day, Lao Vice Minister also attended the plenary session of the Commission for the Southeast Asia Nuclear Weapon-Free Zone to review the implementation of the action plan on the promotion of the implementation of the Southeast Asian Nuclear-Weapon-Free Zone Treaty.
