Prior to attend to the 1st China International Import, on 4 November 2018, Prime Minister Thongloun Sisoulith met Chinese President Xi Jinping.
The Lao Side informed the Chinese leader that the construction of Laos-China Railway at present is more than 41 percent completed. Both sides agreed to work together to speed up construction of the railway to ensure the completing in line with the plan.
The Lao side reiterated Laos’ intention to fully support the Chinese–initiated “Belt and Road Initiative”. Both sides agreed to work together as co-chairs of the Mekong-Lancang Cooperation initiative which will be held in Luang Prabang in Mid of December 2018.
