Laos and Kyrgyzstan on Saturday signed in New York, the United States of America, an agreement to exempt visas for diplomats and officials holding passports of the two countries.

Signatories to the agreement were Minister of Foreign Affairs Saleumxay Khommasith and Minister of Kyrgyzstan Erlan Abdyldaev.

The signing ceremony was witnessed by relevant officials of both sides.

The agreement allows diplomats and officials holding passports of the two countries to stay up to 30 days in each other’s country without needing a visa.

The visa exemption for holders of passports by diplomats and officials will facilitate bilateral exchanges of visits as well as further strengthen the friendly relations and cooperation between the Lao PDR and Kyrgyzstan.

Laos and Kyrgyzstan established diplomat relations on June 13, 1995.

Kyrgyzstan is a rugged Central Asian country along the Silk Road, the ancient trade route between China and the Mediterranean.
