On 10 May 2023, H.E. Sonexay SIPHANDONE, Prime Minister of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic met H.E. Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., President of the Republic of the Philippines on the sidelines of the 42^nd ASEAN Summit in Indonesia.

During the Bilateral Meeting, the two leaders vowed to boost the countries’ cooperation in trade, heath, education and people-to-people exchange agreement, and agreed to work with the ASEAN leaders toward the collective benefit of the regional bloc.

H.E Sonexay SIPHANDONE, Prime Minister of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic extended an invitation from H.E. Thongloun SISOULITH, President of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic to H.E. Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., President of the Republic of the Philippines to make a state visit at a time of his convenience.

In return, H.E. Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., also extended an invitation to the President and the Prime Minister of the Lao PDR to visit the Philippines, too.
